REVIEW OF THE NEW SAMMY HAGAR CD "Cosmic Universal Fashion"

2 words; pretty bad

And i am the biggest Sam fan you'll find; have all his cd's, drink his tequlia, went to Cabo many time for his B-day and spent an assload of $ in Cabo Wabo Cantina, etc....and at this point, I'm not expecting him to put out another cd like VOA, Standing Hampton or anything other than good Waborita party music to drive fast to and get drunk with...

thats said, this album is, with the exception of the 1st two or three songs, some of the most uninspired, repetitive sounding schlock i've ever heard him put out; it makes some of his more lightweight older songs like TRANS AM or RED sound like they were written by Bob Dylan. The cover of the Beasties "You Gotta Fight for your Right to Party" is maybe the worst thing he's ever committed to cd/vinyl..i know this won't be a popular opinion among Sam's fans, and i'll probably go back to cabo this yr and stand in his club and sing along to his songs like always, but it'd be nice to see him, before he gets too old, put out one more good, focused, tight album..or better yet, put out a killer covers CD w/his sideproject LOS TRES GUSANOS w/Mikey Anthony and David Lauser; some VH, some old MOntrose, and whatever else these guys cut their teeth on...that'd be "one way to rock"...later taters

My friends have always said i'm a natural for this as i have an opinion about everything and have a savants knowledge of all things trivial/hedonistic/music-arts. I'll spout about essentials songs you should listen to...artists u may not ever have known about...fine cigars...cheap women...electronics...rock and roll....outlaw country.....

As you see on my front page, one thing that'll circulate back thru this thing is my ADORATION of Doug Sahm and Waylon Jennings, and my attempt to educate every fuckin' person on earth about these guys...more about that later

Will try to post at least a cpl times a week, and will try not to bore you if i don't have anything to say....i hate blogs that sound like a bad conversation at 2am at an IHOP...
